🚫 Not Your School Health Class: A Real Conversation for Teens

Let’s be honest—most health classes don’t answer the questions teens are actually asking. They cover the basics and check the boxes, but when it comes to real life—stress, relationships, vaping, decisions you regret—there’s a gap, and teens feel it. That’s why we’re launching something different: a live, one-hour YouTube and podcast series designed to talk about health in a way that actually makes sense. No scripts, no lectures, and definitely no awkward vibes—just real conversations where teens can ask questions (live or anonymously) and get honest, medically-informed answers without judgment.

Our first episode, “What Does ‘Healthy’ Even Mean?”, breaks down the idea that health is more than just eating right or working out. Real health includes your energy, your stress, your relationships, and the decisions you make every day. You can look “healthy” on the outside and feel terrible, or not look perfect and actually be doing just fine. We’re starting with the kinds of questions teens don’t usually feel comfortable asking out loud, like:

  • Can I tell my parents if I’ve done something bad or dangerous?
  • Can I have social media?
  • What if my friends say it's ok?

These aren’t just health topics—they’re real-life situations that teens are navigating every day. We talk through when it’s important to involve a parent or trusted adult, what to do if that feels overwhelming, and how to think through decisions without fear or shame driving the process.

This conversation matters because teen brains are wired for connection, curiosity, and risk-taking—that’s normal development. But without clear, honest information, teens are often left to figure things out through friends, social media, or trial and error, which can lead to decisions that stick longer than expected. This series is about changing that by giving teens a space where they can listen, participate, and feel understood. Each episode includes live polls, chat-based questions, and anonymous submissions so there’s no pressure to speak up, but every opportunity to engage.

At its core, this isn’t about telling teens what to do—it’s about helping them understand what’s happening in their body and brain, think through choices before they make them, and feel supported instead of judged. Because one decision doesn’t define them, but learning how to make those decisions can shape everything.

Teens can join live, submit questions ahead of time, or just listen in and take what they need. And for parents, this is what honest, supportive health education can look like. We’ll be diving into more topics like anxiety, social media, dating, and substance use next—so if there’s something you want to hear about, send it in. Nothing important is off the table.
